QAinAL_Kick - Off Meeting of the QAinAL Project, held during February 29 - March 2, 2016

In the framework of ERASMUS+ project “Strategic support on strengthening the quality assurance structures at the private higher education institutions in Albania”, the kick-off meeting was held in Tirana, during 29 February - 3 March 2016.

On the first day, introductory speeches were given by:

-          Egest Gjokuta, Ministry of Education and Sport of Albania

-          Xheni Sinakoli, European Union Delegation in Albania

-          Edit Dibra,  ERAMUS+ Office in Albania

-          Prof. Peter Eckl, Paris – Lodron University, Salzburg (Project Grant Holder)

 

After introductory speeches, the following presentations were delivered:

-          Prof. Dr. Peter Eckl, Project presentation “Strategic support on strengthening the quality assurance structures at the private higher education institutions in Albania”,

-          Prof. Dr. Fatmir Memaj, presentation of the project outcomes “Empowering Universities to fulfill their Responsibility for Quality Assurance”, University of Tirana

-          Prof. Dr. Ardian Cerava, presentation of the project outcomes “Enhancing Albanian system of quality assurance in higher education: Application of process and outcome based methodology”

On the second day the following presentations were delivered:

Prof. Peter Eckl, Paris-Lodron University, Salzburg, Presentation of the impact of the previous TEMPUS project “Supporting Developing the Structures for QA at the Private Higher Education Institutions in Kosova”

Mjellma Carabregu - WUS Kosova, “Presentation of needs and analysis report on Quality Assurance at the Private Higher Education Institutions in Albania and Kosova”

 

A discussion was held on the topic “What does the internal Quality Assurance mean for the EU project partners?”

-          Prof. Angelo Musaio, University of Genova, Italy

-          University Politechnica of Bucharest, Romania

-          Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Austria

After the presentations and the discussion, a brainstorming session was held on the topic: What are the expectations of the Higher Education Institutions in Albania from the project (matching the needs with previous and current initiatives)?, which was lead by Prof. Dr. Agostino Massa, University of Genova.

On the third day, two meeting were held, Preventive Monitoring Meeting combined with Project Consortium Meeting. Prof. Dr. But Dedaj, delivered a presentation on the Importance of sustainable internal management structures on implementation of international projects – TEMPUS funded projects as case studies.

The wider project objective is to establish and support quality assurance processes and mechanisms to ensure effective management and enhance teaching and learning at the private higher education institutions in Albania. The project aims to support the private higher education institutions in Albania to achieve the priorities of the two key documents: “Increasing the impact of EU Development: an Agenda for Change” and “European Higher Education in the World”. The project addresses, the national priority for Joint Project, quality assurance processes and mechanisms, under category C – improving management and operation of higher education institutions.
